Amy Blea is an apparel designer, entrepreneur and educator. Her background includes a business and marketing degree from California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo and an apparel design degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York (she graduated magna cum laude.) While in New York, she learned the techniques of draping, patternmaking, sewing, tailoring, illustration and working in leather. As a designer, she worked for several companies including, Nanette Lepore, Calvin Klein, Chaps Ralph Lauren and Pacific Sunwear.
Upon returning to Los Angeles, she launched a women’s clothing collection in 2004 called Seed Clothing. Seed Clothing was sold in exclusive boutiques on the west coast and on www.etsy.com all around the world.
With a desire to give back to the community and teach the craft of patternmaking and sewing, she started developing workshops and coursework. She has been teaching for over 15 years and is currently an instructor at Art Center College of Design and Chaffey College. She also teaches workshops at the Glendale Central Library Makerspace.
